Brass and copper langdis

Langdi is the trade name we use for a family of brass and copper cooking pots, listed beside our topes. The langdis in our photographs are wide, with a flat base, a low wall and a flared rim: shallower than a tope. Kitchens and homes cook in them on the stove.

What to know about langdis

Choose a langdi by diameter, weight and construction. The broad, flat base gives a large cooking surface. On a joint-bottom langdi the base is a separate piece joined to the wall, and the seam shows inside; regular langdis are listed apart. Compare weight for size, since heavier means thicker metal. Brass and copper langdis for cooking need kalai, a tin lining, inside: ask for it in your enquiry. Never heat a tinned pot empty.
