What to know about pawalis

Choose a pawali by capacity and by what the water is for. Copper is the traditional metal for drinking water; brass suits washing water, the pooja room and display. A close-fitting lid keeps out dust. Use it for plain water only, keep anything sour out, and empty, rinse and dry it now and then. Nakshi (engraved) pawalis suit weddings, housewarmings and display.
