A pawali is a tall, lidded metal drum, commonly used in Indian kitchens to store grain, flour and pulses. HV211 is hammered brass with a banded base and a flat, rimmed lid.
Keep rice, atta or dal in it at home. Families also bring a pawali out at festivals and ceremonies, and it makes a lasting wedding or housewarming gift.
For dry goods such as grain, no tin lining is needed. Keep the inside dry, and polish the outside with tamarind or lemon.
Also called pawali drum, brass storage drum, brass grain container.
