About this product

Patiya is the trade name we use for this cooking pot. It is wide and round-bellied, hammered all over, with a ring handle on each side, a silver-toned rim and a hammered lid with a knob.

It cooks dal, curries, rice and sabzi on the stove, then goes to the table with its lid on. Restaurants use it to serve straight from the pot, caterers on buffet counters, and homes for daily meals and guests.

Brass needs kalai (a tin lining) inside before any cooking; sour and salty food react with the bare metal. Your quotation confirms whether the piece comes tinned.
