HV469 is a wati, or katori, in kansa, made by hand. Kansa (bronze) is bell metal, an alloy of copper and tin; it rings when struck.
Set it on a kansa thali for dal, sabzi, kheer or rice. Eating from kansa is traditional in Bengal and Odisha. Kansa watis make a gift on their own or with a thali. HV468 is the same wati with a polished finish.
Wash kansa by hand, dry it at once and polish it with tamarind or pitambari. It is hard but brittle, so a fall on stone can crack it. Keep it out of the dishwasher.
Also called kansa katori, kansa vati, bronze katori, kasa wati.
