About this product

HV465 is a handmade kansa thali with a polished finish, bright all over. Kansa (bronze) is bell metal, an alloy of copper and tin. It is harder than either metal alone and rings when struck.

Eating from kansa is traditional in Bengal and Odisha. The polished finish suits festive tables, guests and gifting, and kansa tableware is a customary wedding gift in Odisha. Pair it with polished kansa watis (HV468). HV360 is the same thali without the polish.

Wash kansa by hand, dry it at once and polish it with tamarind or pitambari. It is hard but brittle, so a fall on stone can crack it. Keep it out of the dishwasher.
