A tawa is a round, flat or slightly curved griddle. Most tawas today are iron or steel; brass is the traditional alternative. HV179 has no handle.
Cook rotis, phulkas, parathas and thepla on it. Without a handle it sits flat and stores easily; lift it with a pakkad (tongs, see HV402) when hot.
Keep sour food off bare brass. Wash, dry at once, and polish with tamarind or lemon.
Also called pital ka tawa, brass roti tawa, tava.
