A katora is a shallow round metal cup, usually brass or copper; the katori is its smaller form. Marathi homes call it a wati. HV29 is our brass katora.
In pooja it holds prasad, panchamrit, rice or flowers. At the table and at wedding meals it serves dal, kheer and sweets, and it completes a thali set.
Serve curd, kadhi and other sour dishes for the length of a meal only; do not store food in bare brass. Wash and dry it after use, and polish with tamarind or lemon when the brass darkens.
Also called katori, wati, vati.
