A South Indian coffee filter is two brass cups that stack. Ground coffee goes in the perforated upper cup. Hot water is poured over, and decoction drips into the cup below. This one is plain, with a brushed satin finish and a knob on the lid.
Mix the decoction with hot milk for filter kaapi at home, in a darshini or in a café. Serve it in a tumbler set in a davara. Sizes run 1 to 4 (HV72 to HV75); ask for the decoction volume of each.
Wash by hand and dry at once. Polish the outside with tamarind or lemon when the shine fades.
Also called South Indian coffee filter, filter kaapi filter, kaapi filter.
