A chilamchi is a basin for washing hands. The badna is the spouted ewer that pours the water. This brass set pairs a wide basin, fitted with a pierced centre cover and knob, with a tall ewer. The ewer has a long curved spout, a hinged lid, a handle and engraved patterns.
The ewer pours water over a guest's hands, and the basin catches it under the cover. Restaurants, banquet halls and wedding hosts use it at the table; homes keep one for guests or display. It comes Big and Small.
Empty, wash and dry it after use, and polish with tamarind or lemon.
Also called chillumchee, hand wash basin and jug, aftaba.
