About this product

A thal is a large, flat metal dish or tray, usually brass or bell metal, and bigger than an everyday thali. HV18 is our print / tilak thal, made in three sizes: up to 24 (HV17), 25-26 (HV18) and 27+ (HV19).

At a tilak ceremony, the thal is set with kumkum, sandalwood paste, rice, flowers and a diya, and carries the gifts for the groom. The same thal serves aarti and pooja at home, and carries sweets, fruit and gifts at weddings.

Wash and dry it after use, and polish with tamarind or lemon when the brass darkens.

Also called tilak thali, pooja thal, aarti thal.
