About this product

A handi is a deep, round-bellied pot with a broad mouth, made for slow cooking. Its lid can be sealed with dough so food cooks in its own steam. A rice handi is used for plain rice, pulao, khichdi and dum biryani. Homes use the smaller sizes, and restaurants and caterers cook and serve from the larger ones.

Brass needs kalai (a tin lining) inside before any cooking; sour and salty food react with the bare metal. Your quotation confirms whether the piece comes tinned.
