About this product

A batoi is a round brass pot with a wide mouth. The name matches the batloi, a vessel for cooking dal and rice, which in many homes did the work of today's pressure cooker. HV37 is our standard batoi.

The batloi was traditionally given by the bride's family to the groom's family at a wedding. Today it cooks dal and rice at home, holds water for pooja, and is chosen as a wedding gift.

For cooking, and for anything sour or salty, the inside needs kalai (tin lining). Polish the outside with tamarind or lemon.

Also called batloi, batlohi.
