About this product

A palta is a flat brass turner with a round blade and a long handle. It is the tool for lifting rice out of a batloi (a round cooking pot) and for turning puris in hot oil.

It works at the stove in home kitchens and at wedding and festival meals. It belongs with the batloi and the kalchul (ladle) among traditional brass kitchen pieces.

Wash and dry it after each use, and polish with tamarind or lemon when it darkens.

Also called palti, brass spatula, puri turner.
