About this product

A kajrota (kajrauta, kajlauta) is a small, shallow container for kajal (kohl) with a slender handle. Gol means round. HV34 is the big size and HV33 the small.

In many North Indian weddings, the groom's eyes are lined with kajal or surma before the baraat sets out, as a guard against the evil eye. Often his sister-in-law (bhabhi) does it. A brass kajrota holds the kajal for that rite, and for everyday use at home.

Wipe it clean after use. Polish the outside with tamarind or lemon.

Also called kajal dani, kajrauta, kajlauta, surmedani.
