About this product

An ubha dabba is a tall, upright storage tin. Marathi ubha means upright, and dabba means box. HV56 has kalai inside: a lining of tin wiped over the brass.

The lining lets it hold what bare brass should not. Salt, tamarind, kokum and pickle traditionally go in tinned brass. It also holds rice, dal and sugar.

Kalai wears with use and scrubbing. Wash gently, dry at once, and have it re-tinned periodically, depending on use.

Also called brass storage dabba, brass storage container, dabba, kalai dabba.
