A Turkish coffee pot, called a cezve or ibrik, is a small long-handled pot with a pouring lip. Ours is brass with a flared mouth and an engraved floral band. It is lined inside with a silver-coloured metal and has a turned wooden handle. Sizes 1, 2 and 3.
Turkish coffee is made from very finely ground coffee. It is heated in the pot until it just comes to the boil and froths, then poured unfiltered into small cups. Cafés and Middle Eastern restaurants use the cezve, and coffee drinkers keep one at home.
Hand-wash and dry at once, keeping the wooden handle out of soaking water. Clean the brass outside with tamarind or lemon.
Also called cezve, ibrik, turkish coffee maker.
