A samovar is a metal urn for heating water and keeping tea hot. It came from Russia and is also used in Iran, Turkey and Kashmir, where samovars are traditionally copper. Ours is hammered copper with brass handles. It comes in two shapes: a straight-sided urn with a small capped opening in the lid, and a wider, bell-shaped vessel with a stacked top.
Cafés, hotels, banquet tea counters and caterers use them for tea service. Homes keep one for kahwa or for display.
Tea held in copper needs a lining inside. Your quotation confirms how the inside is finished.
Also called samovar, copper samovar, kahwa samovar.
